Here’s a selection of some interesting and notable projects I’ve worked on. Let’s talk about what I can do for you!
Editing
Revised numerous academic articles for publication in English journals. This can involve improving the language, formatting and checking references, and ensuring the submission meets all the journal’s requirements. Topics have ranged from communication with nonverbal children to the economics of airfares, international teaching practices and the roles of migrants in the EU.
Edited several non-fiction books, including a cultural study of non-religious people in the Arab world and a guide to the use of EMDR therapy.
Helped produce an internal hydrogen newsletter at Gasunie. I interviewed energy leaders and wrote articles, revised texts written by staff and ensured the technical content was clear and understandable for a general audience.
Led a project to rewrite engineering manuals for 24 ferries. I collaborated with each boat's engineering staff to accurately reflect their procedures and then copy edited, laid out and distributed the final product.
Writing
Profiled Dutch companies that hire international staff and do business in the north for The Northern Times. Here are a few articles in that series: Chordify, Snakeware and Devhouse Spindle.
Interviewed staff leading hydrogen and energy transition projects and wrote profiles for internal newsletters at Gasunie and NAM.
Rewrote and standardised web pages for a Dutch university’s English website.
Translating
All my translating is from Dutch to English. Topics have included:
Hundreds of pages of annual reports for a Dutch research university.
Dutch course material for secondary school students. I also modified the English language level (e.g. from C1 Dutch to A2 English while retaining the meaning of the content).
Web pages, marketing texts and news items for various businesses, including HAN University of Applied Sciences, Leiden University, Contentoo, Gasunie and NAM.
